Music education personalised

Joané grew up in a small town in the Free State, where the love for music and the arts was bigger than its opportunities. She took piano lessons from a young age. In 2011, her formal music education began at Ladybird, an international art academy. She took up the flute three years later, and soon it became her primary instrument.

In 2017, Ladybird appointed Joané to teach flute, piano, recorder and music theory, to manage their ensembles, and to accompany the chamber choir. She graduated from the North-West University in Potchefstroom with the BMus (Baccalaureus Musicae) degree in 2022, where she specialised in the flute with André Oosthuizen and music education with Prof. Mignon van Vreden. She then obtained her BMus Hons (Baccalaureus Musicae Honours) in 2023 at Stellenbosch University with Flute Repertoire as specialty, supervised by Dr Bridget Rennie-Salonen.

Music ignited Joané's dream of being a “Ladybird” in someone else’s life. Now, she wants to give her students the opportunity to grow musically, emotionally, and mentally through music education.
